visuel exposition Monique Frydman Galerie Dutko

Exhibition "L'Autre Rive"

Created between 2022 and 2023, this new body of work is entitled “L’Autre Rive”. Always at the heart of his work, the use of pastel is here much more diluted, lighter. The brush also intervenes more, Monique Frydman coming to rework the traces left by the blocks of pastels. In this way, these last canvases seem to be imbued with a more watercolor quality.

If in previous series of paintings such as Les Rives (2019), L’Orée (2019) or Les Aubes (2019), color asserted itself frontally, the works presented here carry within them a form of liquidity. The canvas is also left bare in places, revealing the texture of cotton or linen.

These raw spaces belonging to the physical nature of the work merge with the lightness found by Monique Frydman in her use of pastel.

The canvases of “L’Autre Rive” belong to an intermediate space, a space where a mysterious transparency is expressed.

Exhibition Solaire Culture
"The Tangerine Space"

SOLAIRE CULTURE, Veuve Clicquot's very first worldwide traveling exhibition, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the House

Solaire Culture is   a 100% feminine exhibition. In order to represent Veuve Clicquot's heritage in a contemporary way and to pay homage to the audacity of Madame Clicquot, Camille Morineau appealed to and brought together for the first time ten internationally renowned and audacious women artists, in particular the great Yayoi Kusama and manga artist Moyoco Anno, but also Inès Longevial, Tacita Dean, Cece Philips, Rosie McGuinness, Pénélope Bagieu, Olimpia Zagnoli, Sheila Hicks and Monique Frydman. Each was given carte blanche to create an original work of art, inspired by Madame Clicquot and her creations.

As part of this exhibition Monique Frydman created a museum installation: "In the Tangerine Space, euphoria of colors".
This work is a colored pavilion (4 x 4 x 2.5 meters), a bamboo structure surrounded by dyed tarlatan, in orange, yellow and pink tones.

"In the Tangerine Space, euphoria of colors" is an immersive work, in which the visitor is invited to enter, and to be overwhelmed by the profusion of emotions created by the color, texture and transparency of tarlatan.

Interview with Monique Frydman around her book "Chronique des jours fêlés" published by Editions du Regard.

During the lockdown, Monique Frydman, from April 12 to May 31, 2020, in the silence of her studio, undertakes, day after day, a series of 129 monotypes, on Japanese paper, brought together in this book. There is a running edition and a deluxe edition which includes an original monotype.

Small formats, 15 x 21 cm, reveal all the intensity, depth and polysemy of a work that is both material and immaterial.
